The Roshomon Effect

The main difference I see between Roshomon and Citizen Kane is the use of perspectives. Roshomon tells the differing story of 4 people, and it tells the viewer of the human nature that lives in us. The nature to lie. Citizen Kane however uses different perspectives, and the way it is told, it is seen as the truth. This shows how film techniques can truly sway a persons view of a movie, and see a totally different story.

The similarity these two movies share is the flashback effect. They both start off near the end, and flashback to tell the story.
