Method Acting

Method acting is the act of putting oneself in the shoes of the character in order to portray him/her better. Often actors will "be" their characters outside of the set, so that they can feel and act how their character would act. Stanislavski is an old Russian actor and theatre director, and he is important to the development of American Method Acting. Marlon Brando probably used this technique for the same reason any other actor would use this technique; to get in tune with his character in order to portray him at the best of his ability.
